Technology is changing, and with it comes great advances: Acacia, the previously fitted battery pack has moved into the realm of new energy storage solutions. Phoenix One has taken the bold move to replace the existing battery pack weighing 1500kg to a slender 560kg Lithium energy storage unit. This highly-functional energy source has increased from roughly 20kWh to 80kWh again decreasing the weight to three times less.
LES (Lithium Energy Storage) is composed of 14xLiFePO4 batteries – a proven, safe technology. The energy system has been tailor-made, specifically to dove tail perfectly into Acaia’s physical space.
Phoenix One has equipped the system with 12kW charges and 24kW inverters to allow the use of generators for speedy recharging and powering the entire vessel. In an ideal scenario – the vessel can be charged from 0% to 100%within a 5-6hr time frame – using onboard generators and an 8hr source from the shore line.
Bigger Powers produce a high-quality finishing as mandatory. This was assured during load tests of the system, in which the components were checked with thermal imaging. This exhaustive system of checks showed no quality control issues.
This system does much more. With precision it allows real-time monitoring and control over both the entirety of the vessel and from the cloud portal. Should an alarm or warning appear a designated person on onboard or ashore will be immediately notified.
The key to taking advantage of LES, is that the electrical distribution has changed for the better, a system in which the entire vessel is powered by this source – even the galley and air-conditioning. This functionality, with the exchange of a saloon PS distribution, enables the data to be archived.
In conjunction with the powerful service of LES, the GMDSS, Navigation and Starter batteries have been exchanged by Phoenix One with new and standard GEL batteries.
